Student Environmental Center (SEC) is a Registered Student Organization at Southern Illinois University Carbondale dedicated to the struggle for environmental justice.

Through our campaigns we hope to help SIUC become a leader in sustainability while educating the university community and providing this generation's fresh crop of starry eyed dreamers with the necessary knowledge and skills to become tomorrows dedicated activists.

Got questions about the Green Fee? We've got answers.

Students at SIUC are ready to step up and do their part to chill out global warming, battle resource plundering and put an end to injustice by getting serious about conservation, efficiency and renewable energy – in other words sustainability.

So, SEC has launched an ambitious, three pronged campaign to help the university establish a comprehensive institutional mechanism for furthering its efforts towards sustainability and do it's part in lowering CO2 emissions to fight climate change.

Project EcoDawgs is a student led initiative created by SEC in collaboration with members of the SIUC's Plant Service Operations that will create a sustainability committee, a green fee and a paid sustainability coordinator position within the university. SEC strives to remain accountable to the student body and will be seeking to gauge student support of the proposed fee by hosting a campus-wide referendum.
